Play the saxophone like an expert with personalized lessons from an experienced teacher

I have been playing the saxophone since I was 9 years old, and was tutoring younger band students since 10 years old. Once I started college, about 5 years ago, I started teaching saxophone lessons professionally. Lessons structures vary depending on the student's playing level. Prior to the first lesson, I work with all students to understand their goal(s) so we can structure the lesson to achieve these goals. With complete beginners, after the first lesson you can expect to learn how to put the instrument together and even play a short song. In our later lessons we talk about instrument basics such as breath control, embouchure, hand position, tuning, and more. With my intermediate students we focus the first half of the lesson on basics/technique/scales while the second half we work on the music that we have selected. I include some basic music theory in all lessons. For my lessons, I use a technique book and song book, varying on the students level. I provide extra sheet music, charts, and any other necessary tools to help. I love working with students of all experience levels and can't wait to help you develop your love for the saxophone!

Hi, my name is Becca and I have been playing saxophone for the past 13 years. When I was 9 years old I joined the elementary band and chose saxophone. Ever since then I continued playing classical saxophone, was always first chair, and gave lessons to other students. In middle school I joined the jazz band, which is where I started playing the bass and it has become my secondary instrument. During high school, I also played many different instruments in the marching band while continuing saxophone in wind ensemble. I just graduated from CSU with a degree in general music. In fall of 2022, I will be starting student teaching to complete my K-12 teaching credential! During my collegiate career, I focused on music theory, aural skills, and teaching pedagogy meanwhile learning all major instruments. I also played saxophone in the CSU Wind Ensemble & jazz band, as the first chair/section leader. When I am not playing instruments, I love to travel and learn new languages. Feel free to contact me with any questions, I can't wait to hear from you and set up some saxophone lessons.
