The National Flute Association, founded in 1972, is the largest flute organization in the world. I'm a professional flutist, educator and entrepreneur. Currently I perform over 100 concerts a year nationally as a recitalist in schools and performing art's centers. I have over 25 years of experience teaching at all levels with considerable results.  Whether studying with me privately, or in a college or conservatory young students of mine enjoy music and achieve high levels of expertise. I help adult amateur flutists reconnect to flute, to music, and to physical health.

I'm a Juilliard trained (BM, MM) flutist, educator and entrepreneur.  Currently I perform over 100 concerts a year nationally as a recitalist in schools and performing arts centers and with The Green Golly Project. I am dedicated to bringing classical music and music theater to children and adults through my interdisciplinary performances.
In addition I have over 20 years of experience teaching at all levels with considerable results, and have taught in my home studio and at various universities. 
 I love the process of teaching and watching students have that learning break through where they connect to the music and the sounds that they are making.  That moment when they know that they will be able to play the flute!!

My daughter has been taking lessons with Barbara for over two years now - she started at 8 years old!  Barbara is caring and warm and really understands how to teach children.  I can tell how she has adjusted as my daughter has grown and she knows when to challenge and when to let her have some space to develop.  My daughter is never bored, she always has a good mix of music to keep her interest while still learning the basic scales and a solid foundation.  Most music teachers know the music and instrument but you want someone like Barbara who really knows how to teach a child how to enjoy it and appreciate the process of learning it all.

Barbara is a very sensitive and amazingly supportive teacher. She has helped me foster my love for the flute and for music. I have been studying with her for a long time and intend to continue for many years. It has been a life changing experience. I highly recommend her lessons.
