    About Austin B.

    Austin grew up in San Antonio, Texas and began studying music at the age of 6. His musical upbringing came primarily through the marching arts, eventually touring nationally with The Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps in their 2011 and 2012 seasons before moving to Boston, MA to further his studies. Austin was awarded a Bachelor's Degree in Percussion Performance from The Boston Conservatory in 2017. Austin has studied extensively with internationally recognized musicians like Nancy Zeltsman, Doug Perkins, Keith Aleo, Samuel Solomon, Kyle Brightwell, Henrique de Almeida, and has been coached by Grammy winning artists like composer John Luther Adams, and percussionist Matt Duvall of Eighth Blackbird. Additionally, he has also attended various percussion festivals and masterclasses on the east coast. The Chosen Vale percussion seminar in New Hampshire, where he was coached by Cynthia Yeh of the Chicago Symphony, and Michael Burritt from the Eastman School of Music. He also attended the Cloyd Duff Timpani Masterclass at the University of Georgia where he studied timpani with Tim Adams of the Pittsburgh and Atlanta Symphonies, as well as Tom Freer of the Cleveland Orchestra. Austin has performed hundreds of shows in the Northeast with various bands and ensembles, from classical music and musical theater, to pop, jazz, and heavy metal. He has additionally performed at festivals like South by Southwest, and around the US on 7 different tours -- sharing bills with artists like Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys, Dawn Cantwell from Wicked on Broadway and Sting's The Last Ship, jazz-trombonist Bob McChesney (Ray Charles. Michael Jackson, Shakira, Arturo Sandoval), Jason Treuting of Sō Percussion, and more. Austin has worked with Grammy-nominated engineers (Jeff Lipton of Peerless Mastering, and Benny Grotto of Mad Oak Studios) who have recorded or mastered material for artists like Aerosmith, Bon Iver, Arcade Fire, LCD Sound-System, Jeff-Tweedy, Ben Folds, Weird Al, City and Colour, and Dropkick Murphys.

    Austin has recorded two full length LP's, and performed on two tours of the east coast with the band. Aüva has performed at festivals like South by South West, and has opened for Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys on his Pet Sounds 50th anniversary tour at The Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion.

    Austin played with The Boston Theatre Company for its 2nd Anniversary Cabaret - with Dawn Cantwell from Sting's The Last Ship and Wicked on Broadway. Music directed by Ryan Cantwell, MD of the Pippin and Finding Neverland national tours. Hosted by Rich DiMare of Boston's Kiss 108.fm.

    Austin was a member of the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps for its 2011 and 2012 national tours. He played marimba in the front ensemble for 60+ shows across the US in over 30 states.
