I am a professional singer, pianist, and violinist, and also a public school teacher. I specialize in classical music, and have worked with many choirs and instrumental ensembles over the course of my career. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Music Education (Voice) at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada, and completed my piano studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music. I also earned my Master's degree in Music Education at the Boston Conservatory.
I began my music studies at the age of 7, and a lot of my current teaching philosophy has been greatly influenced by my own educational experiences as a child. I believe that students are never too young for a technical and accurate approach. At the same time, music lessons don't have to be scary or daunting. I find that many teachers tend to underestimate their students, so I make a great effort to encourage my students to go further than even they think they can.
My piano, violin, and voice students have been of diverse ages and experience levels. Depending on the goals of the student, we can work out a personalized curriculum that is beneficial and efficient. Students can expect to improve in music literacy, sight-reading, ear training, knowledge of different musical styles, chord building and reading, and holistic musicianship.
Feel free to send me a message! I would love to talk about your musical journey and how I can help you progress.
