    About Atemu A.

    I have for the past twenty-two years been working as a Music Educator, Administrator, Jazz composer and performer". The last ten of those years I have been in the San Francisco Bay area. I have been responsible for teaching, developing music curricula and programs in Oakland, Chicago and in Boston.  In addition, I have toured the world performing Jazz and other styles of music with various bands, taught upright and electric bass privately, and have released two CD’s of original compositions. “I am very much interested in broadening my experience as an educator and giving my students the best all around music experience.” I hold a Master's Degree in Music Composition from the New England Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance from Chicago State University. I continued to perform professionally throughout the U.S. and overseas.My areas of interest include Jazz composition and performance, music theory, music production, Pop, Hip Hop, R&B, Rock and Reggae.  While pursuing my education I had the opportunity to study with Dave Holland, Malachi Favors of the Art Ensemble of Chicago, John Lockwood, George Russell, creator of the Lydian Chromatic Concept of tonal harmonization and most recent with the five time Grammy award winning bassist Victor Wooten. *** Lesson Details *** With my years of teaching both in the classroom and privately, I have developed a method that always get the best results.
