Levels taught:
Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
For young beginners I use a special method based on Katrin Arefi's " AThousand stories for a little pianist". This method has its roots from the Russian Pianist Anna Artobalevskaya and it is a creative approach for the student to learn in an effective and entertaining way.
My lessons with adult/teenager students are very flexible. Depending on their needs and level I choose the right pieces to work on their technical ability and musicality.

I have had the pleasure of working with Astrik as my piano instructor and coach. I played the piano for a long time before starting graduate school. After my practice had lapsed for more than a decade, I decided to get back, regain and refine my technique, and improve certain things that weren't as good as I wanted them to be. Astrik patiently works with me and recommends pieces and exercises that would help me improve my technique. I admire Astrik's open minded approach to music making as she is eager to hear my opinion and interpretation of the music I am working on. Then, together we try different approaches, discuss them, and decide how to move forward. This way, music evolves from one session to the other, it matures, and it becomes a refined and meaningful piece of work in the end. She is a knowledgeable musician, an avid pianist, a patient teacher, and a courteous and wonderful person.

Astghik does not only have the qualities of a great pianist but also of a great teacher. As a student in my mid-twenties, I have benefitted from her ability to tailor her lessons to the individual needs of her students. She is a great listener — both musically and as a person — as she consciously tries to provide her students with the skills they need to get to where they want. For this reason, I can recommend Astghik with no reservation.

My 9 year old daughter has been taking lessons from Astghik for 10 months now. She is a wonderful teacher and is extremely patient. Astghik's gentle and sweet nature works well for small children - and I'm sure for adults too! We love how encouraging she is, while also making the lessons fun and interesting.

Astghik is such a wonderful teacher!

Astghik has been the best investment I made in advancing my skills in playing the piano. She is encouraging, and flexible and has a way of making you feel confident in yourself and your skills. I feel comfortable during our lessons and always walk away having learned something worthwhile and know what to do until our next class.

I would highly recommend her as a teacher to instill the love of music into your heart.
