    About Asil Y.

    Asil Yaman (Ph.D. Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University) is a consulting scholar at the University of Pennsylvania, Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, Mediterranean Section since 2016. Previously he was a research assistant at the Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University (Turkey) where he worked there for seven years. He has been excavating in the eastern Mediterranean since 2003, working on projects from Aegae (Aeolis), Pedasa (Caria), Xanthos (Lycia), Arycanda (Lycia), Patara (Lycia), Gordion (Phrygia) in Turkey. He focuses on the material culture such as late roman pottery, food culture, and trade relations between the Levant and Anatolia in late antiquity. Currently, He is serving as the co-director of the Amos Archaeological Survey Project, as well as the pottery specialist of Gordion, Arycanda, Patara and Kozkalesi. He has also been serving as co-editor of the Levantine Ceramics Project (LCP) since 2018 and serving as co-editor of the Burial Customs in Anatolia during the Hellenistic and Roman Times publication project. Asil received the research grant of the American Research Institute in Turkey (ARIT) in 2018. His teaching repertory includes courses such as; ‘Introduction to Archaeology’, ‘Anatolian Archaeology’, ‘Late Antique Economy,’ ‘The war between the East and West in Archaeological and Historical perspectives’ and, ‘Archaeology and the Cities of Asia Minor in Late Antiquity’ at both undergraduate and graduate level.
