    About Ashleigh S.

Hello and pleasure to meet you! I'm a professional pianist, composer, singer, sound engineer and songwriter that has been active in the international Music Industry over the last 20 years. I graduated from Texas State University with a Masters of Music in Composition and a Bachelor's in Sound Engineering and Piano. I have an active artist career that I have built from the ground up, and am known for two things: piano and vocals. I have toured and performed with and alongside the rock band Blue October, my piano playing is on their Billboard hit, "Fear". I teach predominately adult piano lessons, but have occasionally taught children that express a true interest. I care about my students as people. Please message me if you would like a copy of my CV, as there is not room here to list everything! Piano is my outlet, my friend, and my career. More than anything, it is my desire to open up the ability to play the piano to my students so that they may gain the same. I want it to feel easy, to be fun, comfortable, and to be wholistic. Many teachers hand only little pieces of knowledge to their students at a time. I approach music from the opposite. We learn the overall structure, technique, terminologies, and theory and then I show you how to apply this knowledge to anything you wish to play. I understand my prices are high, but I do this because we typically move much faster than normal lessons, and you will know the informational essentials in about 3 lessons. I want you to understand the whole picture, and it is easy to do so! I am also able to expand the lesson as needed into topics of vocals, recording, songwriting, notation, tutoring, performance, or even piano maintenance. I am well versed in opera, classical, accompanying, music theatre, auditions, and production. Whatever you dream up, we can conquer! A typical 1 hour lesson would flow something like this: 5 min: Hello and how is your life going? 5-15: Warm Ups 15-30: Learning New Things 30-45: Working on Specific Pieces or Goals 45-1 hr: Improvisation Work Of course, these are customized to whatever your specific needs are. My goal is simply to just pass on the information in the easiest, most proficient way possible in order to allow you to reach your goals and enjoy the piano for years to come!
