Music is wonderful!
I am a professional musician, band conductor, and am currently teaching private and group ensemble for Clarinet, Saxophone and Piano.
I am pleased to announce my new studio at:
2240 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, OR 97214
This location is easy to access and is just a few minutes from the Hawthorn bridge.
My goal is to help kids grow musically and learn the amazing art of music performance.
I am accepting new students, from beginning to advanced.
I encourage students to focus on musicality, technique and the art of performing. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in quarterly recitals.
Why choose me?
I am not just a teacher, I am a musician who is dedicated to the craft of musicianship. I have a wealth experience with solo and ensemble performances.
Many of my current clarinet and saxophone students play at Portland Youth Philharmonic and have first seats in their school band. I have a wide range of students (clarinet, saxophone, and piano) and I am the band director at the Russian Gospel Church in Woodburn, Oregon.
I started to learn music in my home country, Ukraine, at age 5, and my first instrument was a piano. At the age of 6, I started to attend a special music school for talented kids, named after P.S.Stolyarsky. I studied piano until 4th grade, but then I discovered the clarinet. From 2004-2008 I was invited to attend international competitions and was awarded 1st and 2nd places. After my second competition, I won a concert tour to the Germany, where I spent 2 weeks, performing the solo recitals.
In 2008, I moved to Kiev Secondary Special Music School - named after N.V.Lysenko- to study more advanced music. From 2008-2012, I became 12 times laureate of the international competitions.
In 2013, my family and I moved to Portland, where I decided to continue my music education at Portland State University. This Spring I will finish my undergraduate degree and then will continue to earn a Master's Degree in Orchestra Conducting.
Please feel free to contact me and ask any questions. I look forward to meeting you and sharing my love of music!

My two kids, ages 11& 9 have been taking piano lessons from Artyom for about a year and they have improved so much. My favorite part about him is that he gives honest feedbacks. Artyom is very passionate teacher, he makes sure his students succeed and takes the best out from them. He is responsible and very knowledgeable in all instruments he teaches. He teaches to my three children Clarinet, Piano and Saxophone.
Artyom has been teaching our daughter for a few years now at home.
He has patience with kids and always tries to motivate them and his recitals are enjoyable. He goes at my daughter' s pace and never shows frustration.
We appreciate him making house call for lessons.
