Beginner, Intermediate, AdvancedQ&A:
Q.: Do you teach bi-weekly lessons?
A.: No, I do not give bi-weekly lessons, and require all of my students to take at least 4 lessons a month to be able to join my studio.
Q.: What happens if I miss a lesson?
A.: My studio policy is that all of my students are required to give me an at least 24-hour notice if they will be missing their lesson for any reason with the exception of illness or family emergencies. It is the student's responsibility to reschedule the lesson for the same week, or their lesson time will be charged in full. For illnesses and family emergencies I will require a doctor's note or a short letter explaining the reason behind their absence.
Q.: What if I have to miss more than one lesson?
A.: In case the student has to miss more than one lesson due to a family trip, vacation, wedding, etc., I require a 2 week notice with an exact date clearly stating when the student will resume their lessons. Failure to do so will result in removal from my studio.
Q.: What if I forget to notify you about my absence?
A.: Failure to notify me about your absence will result in full payment of every lesson missed that I was not made aware of in the 24-hour period leading up to the lesson (if one lesson is being missed) and a 2 week notice if more than 1 lesson will be missed.
About Artem K.
Hello dear students! My name is Artem and I have been playing violin since I was 4 years old and am a freelance musician, composer and pedagogue.
I am passionate about teaching because I believe education and willingness to learn is an extremely important factor for personal development and success.
I was born and raised in Saint Petersburg, Russia and underwent intensive training in voice, violin, composition and piano. After winning the Frieburg Intenational Violin Competition in 2010, I was offered a full scholarship to study music at Dalhousie University at the age of sixteen. After moving to Canada I went through a 9-month intensive english learning program, so I know first hand how difficult it can be to learn a new language. This experience helped me understand the struggles that any ESL student goes through and discover new ways to teach Russian and English to others.
I am excited to get to know you and share my knowledge with you!

Excellent pronunciation guidance and practice!

Not only is Artem a world class violinist but also a very nice person who will make you look forward to the next lesson.

Artem is extremely professional, positive and great MAESTRO!! In the short time I have been with Artem he has taught me valuable foundation techniques. I highly recommend Artem for students who are serious about fine musician techniques and being world class artists!

Artem is an excellent teacher. He provides the perfect balance of explanations, demonstrations and expectations for at-home practice. Thank you so much!

Nothing beats learning from a native speaker, especially one as knowledgeable and professional as Artem. Russian is his native language, but you would never have guessed it since his English is impeccable. He takes difficult concepts and makes them simple to understand. He walks with you each step of the way, meeting you at your level and guiding you to fluency. He understands the best way you learn and adapts to your learning needs and situation. Artem will help you attain native pronunciation and will go out of his way to provide extra help and materials. I've been amazed how much I have gained from lessons with him. Highly recommended. Wonderful teacher.

Artem was great. He is a good communicator and is flexible with his schedule. Thanks Artem!!

Artem was incredibly helpful when I was taking my Russian classes. My parents never taught me and I finally decided to learn so I could converse with my grandparents.
Artem was amazing at showing me how to speak naturally and fluently without ever getting impatient with me. I would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to learn.

Artem is a wonderful violin teacher! He makes it a pleasure to go to lessons and is always in a good mood.

He helped me develop my ability to speak Russian without ever putting me down. I've had many Russian teachers and he's by far the nicest I've ever had. I feel like I learned a lot

Artem has helped me so much with writing my essays and improving my english skills. I would say that I was only able to pass my high school english thanks to him.
I loved how easy he makes everything seem by breaking down complex ideas into much easier and simpler concepts. I highly recommend him!

Artem is knowledable, experienced and very friendly. His feedback is always thoughtful yet detailed and critical. My performance skills have improved substantially as a result of studying with him. He also always encouraged me during lessons to think independently and develop my own artistic voice.

Eventhough I began to study violin with Artem at a very low level, he made me feel welcomed into the music world. He was very patient with me and tried to work with my skill level. I also took Russian with him, I highly recommend both.
