Hello there! My name is Ari, and I am a MA in Government graduate student living in Marblehead. I have been tutoring for 8+ years and working in education/childcare generally for about 10 years. I have worked with kids of all ages (elementary to college) in all major subjects and several specialties.
I have worked with individuals with several types of learning, social, and emotional complications. I have worked with several learning styles and therein take an adaptive teaching approach. I see tutoring as not pure pedantry, but a constructive process whereby the student, the student's parent(s) (if involved) and myself regularly discuss the style of the tutoring sessions as well as the student's study habits as appropriate by age.

I worked as the Assistant Camp Director until July 1st and then as the Off-Water Director until August 1st. I helped design and implement curriculum/programming as well as catalog and prepare materials for said programming. I also trained staff as well as counseled both staff and campers. I personally ran all Off-Water programming in Sports, Games, Arts and Crafts; I regularly adjusted and improved on programming based on a series of indicators, including age, gender, abilities, interests, and a variable set of restrictions and opportunities.
I was awarded a paid teaching assistantship to help Dr. Stoodley prepare material for, teach, and test 140 students in her Psychology as a Natural Science class. I developed quizzes and supplemental reading materials, ran review sessions, proctored exams, and lead discussions on supplemental material.
I trained, supervised and coordinated the Counselors-In-Training for the JCC's day camp program. I also acted as a counselor myself, therein entertaining, teaching and supervising children. I often worked extra hours to supervise kids who stayed late.
I entertained, taught and supervised young children after school. I also coordinated their transportation inside and outside the school as well as their activity participation.
As the Family Camp Director of Children's Island, I oversaw the Family Camping program where families, boy/girl scouts and other groups could spend the day, evening and/or overnight on the island. I entertained the families, maintained the island grounds and supervised a staff of counselors and maintenance crew.
As a Nerf Sports Instructor, I planned and implemented Nerf class for young children. I taught them discipline with properly firing and aiming the Nerf blasters. I taught them strategy and teamwork via various games and exercises using the blasters. I also cleaned, cataloged, and otherwise maintained the Nerf equipment.
I worked as an overnight LARP camp cabin counselor for the very 1st session of NERF Camp and 2 sessions of Wizards and Warriors Camp. "LARP" stands for "Live Action Role Play [game]," a improvisational acting, strategy and sports game. As a LARP counselor, I was not only a camp counselor but an actor and referee. We operated with earpieces and radios such that we could interact with the kids while simultaneously receiving updates or instructions from HQ. The plot constantly changed based on the children's choices, and we were given vague instructions and limits within which to adapt to those choices. This was by far the most challenging job I ever worked. I supervised children 24/7, acted for about 12+ hours, and often took a leadership or instructional role. We worked to make the experience safe, fun, and educational.
I assistant taught Sunday School at Temple Emanu-El in Marblehead. I also helped with events: set up, cooking, chaperoning, filmography, and clean up.
