I am a professional singer, pianist, songwriter and composer. I love what I do and I also love teaching people and inspiring them. I laugh a lot and I have been told that my happiness is contagious. I graduated from UCLA and California Institute of the Arts. I also lived in New York City for 7 years and like to think of that as my doctorate degree in life and music. I have worked and performed with a number of musicians over the years, touring in major jazz festivals. They include Tigran Hamasyan, Ben Wendel, Nate Wood (Kneebody), Alex Cline, Austin Wintory (composer of Journey the video game), Tony Malaby, Michael Gordon, Qasim Naqvi, and Ann LeBaron. I have recorded for Verve and Nonesuch Records and am releasing my second solo album in 2019! Although I have mostly worked in jazz and experimental music, I sing all sorts of styles. I am an in-the-closet Broadway fan, as well as folk, pop and straight up classical art song. I also dabble in background vocals for rock bands sometimes. I have also done intensive studies in Medieval chant particularly of the Armenian Apostolic church of Istanbul. I love early music!
