I am a Japanese-English bilingual and published poet and writer excited to help you develop your Japanese and English language and writing skills!
I love the Japanese language and like to read Japanese novels and manga. I'm a very encouraging, positive and happy person, and would love to help you develop your Japanese!
My mother is from Nagoya, and I grew up speaking exclusively in Japanese at my home in Illinois. I am a professional translator and studied abroad in Tokyo during my senior year of high school, and attended a Japanese Saturday School for nine years.
I graduated summa cum laude from Northwestern University with a degree in Creative Writing, and have a passion for language and writing, as well! I have also published two chapbooks of poetry and am currently writing a memoir with my father. I am a skilled editor and writer, so please reach out to me if you'd like any writing tutoring!

Aozora was great with me as a beginning student of Japanese. She was very well prepared with a lesson plan structured for my learning goals, and set ground rules and taught me simple japanese phrases right from the start limiting our interactions in english to ensure our lesson was truly a Japanese language lesson. Aozora, was also very patient and engaging which made learning Japanese relaxing and enjoyable. I would highly recommend Aozora to anyone trying to learn Japanese.

Aozora ROCKS. She is absolutely amazing.
