Jazz Voice with Anthony K.

My approach to teaching jazz vocal is based upon the many years I have played bass for truly great jazz vocalist. I have on my gigs as a bass player also sang jazz. With this knowledge, I will share what I have learned from the great jazz singers to my students. Jazz vocal can be interpreted in many styles. I will guide my students to what type of jazz style they aspire to. I will shape the lessons based upon the knowledge the student has from beginners to advanced. It is important to explore the work of the great jazz singers that the student will find to be inspiring. I will help guide the students to learn how to find opportunities as jazz singers. My formal background in composition is as follows: I am a professional musician, producer, composer, and author for over 50 years. .My first two years of college, I attended the prestigious Juilliard School of Music studying composition. I also had a year of vocal at the school. I worked as an arranger and composer for many singers and recording sessions. One of my compositions was performed at Carnegie Recital Hall in NYC, I have performed on the road for over 10 years. In closing, I truly have fun and enjoy the creativity of teaching and seeing my students succeed as they pursue their goals and dreams.
