    About Annabel I.

Annabel Ibanez (Spanish/American, 1983). I speak English and Spanish. I graduated from Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts with a Bachelor’s Degree Cum Laude in Music Education/Violin in January of 2007. I studied with Dana Mazurkevich. I worked for 4 years as a teacher for the Intensive Community Program (ICP) for the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra (BYSO). I worked as a string teaching apprentice with string pedagogue, Bonnie Black. I taught students violin, viola and double bass. I was then hired to revive the string program in the public schools of Fairfax, California. I worked there for five years and taught violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, percussion, xylophones, recorder, and general music. I was the conductor of two Orchestras and taught about 500 students each year. During this time, I played in various music ensembles while living in San Francisco. I played with the Arab Orchestra (ASWAT), an indie folk band (IL GATO), a Russian folk band (SHARMANKA) and with Classical Revolution. I then moved to Natal, Brazil and studied violin with Donedilk Dantas at Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, UFRN. For the following three years, I was hired as the Orchestra Director of Ossining High School in New York. Here I directed two Orchestra rehearsals daily, taught lessons on violin, viola, cello and bass, taught guitar and piano classes and taught a general music class to children with disabilities. While in NY, I studied violin with Krzysztof Kuznick. I also studied dance in NYC with Maybe Vicens and Anabella Lenzu. In the Fall of 2016, I relocated to Barcelona, Spain. I am an independent contractor currently working as an English language conversation specialist and teaching private music lessons and yoga. I am currently involved in playing music in various projects within the city. I am playing with a Fusion Jazz Ensemble (ATMA), a string quartet (CUARTETO MOON), and an electronic band (PLAYBACK MARACAS). I also have a solo project and play with many smaller groups for fun. I am a practicing vegan and I enjoy exploring the nature with friends. I love to watch the sun rise at the beach and I am an avid bike rider in the city. I enjoy painting on cardboard and working on my graphic novel. I love studying energy medicine. I am also writing a book I hope to publish one day soon! Lessons will be tailored especially for you. You will play the music you enjoy!
