Actors Technique NY

As a guest artist and teacher, I created a workshop to help young actors develop healthy vocal technique and interpret songs musically and dramatically at the level needed to be competitive in the NYC theater scene. Emphasis on pop and music theater material. In addition to facilitating healthy vocal technique, this workshop built skills such as choosing appropriate material for auditions, analyzing text, finding specificity within the circumstance, and creating an honest and spontaneous performance.

I work as a composer, lyricist, pianist and vocalist, writing and performing both instrumental and vocal works that blend classical and contemporary musical genres.

Setting the Stage, Inc

Worked with children of all ages (grades 1-12) on the fundamentals of vocal production, movement and acting. This course culminated in a public performance.

Garden House School of New York

• Developed and implemented age appropriate music curriculum for students 2.5-6 years of age. • Fostered musical appreciation and every day learning through song and movement. Music selections were drawn from traditional, folk and pop genres. • Introduced basic musical principles such as pitch, rhythm, chords and scales. • Encouraged ear-training through song and interval identification games. Assisted in building vocabulary and linear thought through word-play. • Instilled self-confidence through solo singing, as well as group awareness and cooperation through accompanied group singing.

Anna Winthrop Voice Studio

I provided individualized instruction both as a coach and a vocal technician. I have helped students of all backgrounds to build effortless vocal technique based on my knowledge of vocal science and understanding of unique voice types. I also coach professionals to achieve the most honest, emotionally and musically sensitive, and thoroughly realized performances of their repertoire. Clients have gone on to Broadway, top graduate programs in opera as well as successful careers in the pop and indie music worlds.

My performance career spans opera, straight theater, musical theater and television. I have performed roles in major New York City venues (New World Stages, City Center, Symphony Space, Abingdon Theater, West End Theater) top regional theaters (Goodspeed Opera House, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, Atlanta Theater of the Stars, Kansas City Starlight, Westchester Broadway, Seaside Music Theater, Ohio Light Opera) as well as in National and European Tours. Television credits include guest appearances on Saturday Night Live and Guiding Light.
