I am an experienced university teacher, Assistant Professor, researcher and PhD in Business Studies, from Sweden but currently living and teaching in the USA. I am a great fit for any student wanting to learn more about:
*Human Resource Management
*Swedish language (beginner-advanced, any age group)
For my business students: I use visual aids and plenty of real-life examples in the form of case studies, videos and pictures, to increase and deepen your understanding of the theoretical concepts that you are learning. I have years of experience explaining complex theoretical concepts in business studies, so that anyone can understand. By focusing on deep learning related to real-life scenarios, you will retain the knowledge better, and thus perform better in your studies. It is not mainly about memorizing, it is about really understanding what business is about that will make you successful in your studies and your work life ahead.
For my Swedish language students: I teach based on real-life scenarios and settings, such as going to the grocery store, meeting a new friend, or introducing yourself to a business partner. The feeling resembles learning lines for a theater play and it is a highly effective method which I learned from studying Japanese at Middlebury College Language Schools. The reason this method is so effective is that the vocabulary is used in a context, the way words normally are used, and these memorized conversations can thereafter be used in a multitude of situations, simply by changing only a few words. You will be able to understand and participate in real conversations from start!
I teach Swedish "around your interests". This means that I will take the time to get to know what interests you, what you would like to be able to say and do in Swedish/Sweden, and then I adapt the lessons to that. For those that are interested in literature, I love to introduce some Swedish literature. For students of Business Swedish, I do not think that you can find a more knowledgeable teacher in business Swedish! For the beginner student wanting to learn some basic language to make friends and travel in Sweden and Swedish speaking parts of Finland, we will focus on everyday conversations on current topics in Sweden and Finland. For kids of all ages, we might take a stance in Swedish Donald Duck cartoons (which are highly popular in Sweden- you can find them in every grocery store!) or talk about Minecraft, school related topics etc. .
As a person, I am down to earth and easy to talk to. There are no "stupid questions" in my book. As your teacher, I am on your team, and I will do my very best for you to succeed in your studies!
