I am currently getting my Bachelors degree at the State University of New York at Oneonta. My major is music industry, with a minor in journalism. I will be graduating next year and cannot wait to start working in the industry that I love.
I have been playing percussion/drums since I was 8. Right away, I knew it would be one of my favorite things to do! I first started playing snare drum, bass drum, timpani, bells, and more concert percussion. Then in middle school, I started taking lessons in drum set. Taking private lessons definitely has helped me teach other students one-on-one, since that is how I learned! In high school, I played drum set for my school's Jazz Band and Pit Orchestra, which was so much fun. I also started a drum line in my high school and I wrote music for it. Besides writing music, I taught my peers how to play and organized us events for us to play at. Now in college, I am a leader of my school's drum line and I also play in a percussion ensemble. Each semester, we play new instruments that I never would have thought of playing, like spoons, a flower pot, a party blower, and more!
I started teaching lessons almost 3 years ago. I have seen great growth in my students and I really enjoy seeing them become better percussionists. I strongly believe that the student's wants and needs go first, so I always want to learn more about the student, so I can alter the lesson accordingly.
