I am a former medical technologist, private tutor, and TEFL certified English teacher. I graduated from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a Bachelors of Biology, pre-med track.
EFL/ESL students can expect their English speaking abilities to improve, weekly. We will practice phonics, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and listening comprehension. I will foster a learning experience in which each student will be able to speak comfortably with native English speakers. As we progress through the lessons, you will begin to speak fluently and confidently.
I have over 22 years of tutoring and teaching experience. Throughout elementary school, I was a reading peer tutor. In high school, I was an ESL and special education peer tutor. I was a biology, chemistry and medical technology peer tutor during my college years. In 2008, I started my own small tutoring business which is still in operation. I have experience as a teacher for Sylvan Learning Centers, a teacher-tutor for the MEEC program, and a substitute teacher for Moore County, NC public schools. In 2015, I taught English to elementary school students in South Korea. I am currently a TEFL teacher for two popular online English language companies.
I am excited to practice English with you. We can practice grammar, conversational English, phonics, or prepare for a speaking test. I believe learning should be fun and engaging, but I do not sacrifice true learning for fun and games. We will have a great time during lessons, but I will make your learning my top priority. I am here to help you reach your English learning goals. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better English speaker!
