I have been teaching since 1994. I have a bachelors in bass performance and masters in music composition from CSULB. I am at home teaching theory and technique, but I also use teaching tools like: intuition, creativity, improvisation and song writing. I am comfortable teaching Bach or the Beatles and Mozart or Metallica. In addition to private students I have years of classroom teaching experience at Cypress College and Orange County High School of the Arts.
I have a studio at home, and a fun garden in the yard for parents and siblings to play in during a lesson.
I taught private lessons and group lesson classes as well as lecture courses in music history and music technology
I taught music composition class and music community service class
I love working with Andy and highly recommend him. He is so patient and encouraging. And on top of that he is a really great guy. I have worked with him many times and I know I will again.
I highly recommend Andy! He is an amazing teacher and is really great at what he does. He is very patient, easy to work with, and I have learned a lot from him.
Andy is, without a doubt, one of the most honest and informative teachers I have ever had. He helped me find my voice and I am forever grateful for that. Couldn't recommend him more!
Andy teaches piano to my 4 year old daughter. He is so patient and really engages with her. She has made a lot of progress very quickly because she is genuinely interested in practicing at home between lessons. Last week My son hangs out in the garden and play with his son westley. It works perfectly for us.+ Read More
I've actually had the luck of having Andy as my professor in several subjects. I've taken an Introduction to Music Technology course with him as well as the courses that followed after that. I also took an introductory Bass course. He is, first of all, very passionate about music. That makes it very easy to enjoy his classes. He explains everything so well in ways that are very easy to understand. Andy keeps his classes entertaining without losing the subject. He is very involved with his students, making sure they are okay with the pace of the class. I left every class feeling confident that I'd learned the lesson. I can honestly say that the courses I took prepared me for the career I was going into. I've been able to apply all his classes in my songwriting. Thank you Andy! :)+ Read More
Andy came to our home and gave our kiddo guitar lessons. He was very calm and patient and Sleet loved working with him! I would highly recommend him for lessons for everyone!
I can without a doubt say performing in Southern California I have never worked with such an amazing, honest, hard-working, and dedicated musical director. He is extremely easy to work with and undoubtably helpful. He has made me a much more comfortable performer and now living in New York City working with other musical directors I am blessed to have met Andy Zacharias! I wish there were more of him. He would be my first call as I hope yours.+ Read More
Andy is an absolutely phenomenal Teacher, Coach, and Musician. I have been working with Andy in Musical Theatre since 2012. Andy is so patient, and kind, and can help you learn some amazing vocal techniques and strengths, no matter what level of singer you are! He is also great at helping you conquer your stage fright skills, and making you feel like an absolute star. Andy is basically a musical sevant, and it is just as much of a thrill watching him work, as it is working with him!+ Read More
Andy is an amazing teacher, I learned a lot about the bass guitar in a short time. He is very nice and you can ask him anything you want to know about your bass playing, he wants to see you enjoy playing bass. You will learn how to read music and tabs, so you can practice anything he gives you. I still play bass guitar and have gone to play in a jazz band and he was there rooting me on.+ Read More
