About Andy V.

I am an educator, composer, and performer based in Cincinnati, OH. I have studied piano for 25 years with masters and doctoral degrees in piano and composition from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
Piano students should expect progress in technique, reading, aural skills, and improv/composition. I enjoy teaching a variety of ages and levels from beginners to those that want to major in instrumental performance. I draw out each student's natural creativity, motivation, and strengths so that they develop into a unique and independent musician. The ultimate goal is to teach myself out of a job.
As a composer, I have been commissioned to write pieces for pre-college students across the country, concert pianists, Cincinnati Public Radio, and regional piano competitions. I am also the director of the Creative Commissions project that pairs creative professionals with pre-college music students to collaborate on creating unique and accessible new works.
