About Andrew A.

Hey, I'm Andrew. I've been teaching guitar lessons for almost twenty years! I am currently 37 years old. Over the years I have developed a very effective way of creating a fun and encouraging learning environment for my students. I have a great sensibility of popular music, and can help students with many different styles, from Rock, Metal, or Pop music, to Jazz and Classical studies. I have a lot of patience, which makes me a great choice for any young or beginning student.
I am also a professional Jazz guitarist, performing all over Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Long Island. I was trained at Five Towns College where I received my B.A. in Jazz and Commercial Music.
My musical training has enabled me to teach all levels of guitar, from beginner to advanced, in almost any style.
I love incorporating mindfulness techniques into my lessons. Learning how to relax your mind is an AMAZING tool when it comes to learning.

*** Lesson Details ***
I have an even temperament, and think a calm environment is best for learning. I would encourage my students to play what they are interested in! For the younger students, I would lead them towards the fundamentals of music and guitar, helping them find the fun in practicing and improving. Depending on the student, we could learn music theory, scales, chords, or I can help you learn the music you love.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in the music room, guitar amps, desk, computer, music stand

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide staff paper, instrument cables, and small amp for during the lesson.
I expect the students to have their own guitar, picks, and amp if they are playing an electric instrument. In the event that a student does not have his or her own amp I can provide one, but only for the duration of the lesson.

*** Specialties ***
I have also taught Meditation, Tai Chi, and Yoga. I would like to bring a level of mindfulness that will create a stress free environment for learning.
I have my music degree in Jazz, and perform Jazz on a professional level. I am also fluent in rock and popular music. I have a background in Classical guitar studies as well, and would be able to teach classical guitar up to the intermediate level.
