Hey music lovers! I'm Andrew C., more popularly known as AC. I have been studying, performing, and coaching music since the tender age of 9. My weapons of choice are both trumpet and voice. With trumpet, I have studied and trained in classical, jazz, and contemporary. I have traveled and competed on tour in places like Las Vegas, San Francisco, and Hawaii. In 2002 and 2005, my orchestra that I played with was ranked in the nation's top 10 percent of high school bands, allowing us invitationals to the Heritage Gold Festivals in Chicago. In voice, I have over 10 years experience alone as a singer, recording artist, songwriter, music producer, as well as a vocal coach. Over the years I have landed several lead roles in off Broadway musicals such as Pippin and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I have had the blessings and opportunities to work with Billboard and Multi-Platinum selling songwriters and music producers. Just this past January (2013) I was ranked as one of Reverb Nation's Top 100 pop artists in LA. My training entails the musical talents of several coaches over the years, including classical, musical theater to contemporary mainstream genres (pop, rock, r&b, country, hip hop, etc.) While working in Los Angeles, I had the exciting privilege of coaching entertainment kids. (The kids that go on auditions for tv and movie roles.) The students I mentored were always taught by me to book the room, not the gig. Impressions on audience and casting directors has always been a big part of the craft that I teach. So here's the #1 question: How can you benefit from my teaching? Answer: I don't teach, I mentor and coach. I fully believe in learning from a peer rather an instructor. I'm a peer. All my experiences were learned through performing; trial and error. The best teachings come from those who have traveled the path. In order to apply music to oneself, the aid of books and a classroom will not prove results. Music is a hands on field; one must do. *** Lesson Details *** When it comes to mentoring and coaching you, I'm neither strict nor laid back. I'm stern with care. I show you how to mimic the skills and techniques necessary for proper use of your instrument (voice included.) You will learn the wrong way and the correct way in a safe learning environment. I will never push your voice past it's limit. Technique is very crucial and there are numerous ways to injure ones vocal chords that safety is always first. That being said, proper routine warm ups (vocal exercises) will always come first before getting down to business with a song. You will also acquire proper diet in regards to the voice. Which foods and fluids will work with you and against you when gearing up to rehearse or perform. Depending on your degree of experience as a singer, in a more advanced setting, I will be able to help you develop style to your voice. This will allow you to really customize the sound you aspire to obtain. As a singer and/or trumpet player, I provide you with a very well rounded take on music. I show you the do's and don'ts, ins and outs, yeses and nos. When it's all said and done, you learn from me that there is never a wrong note in music, just better ones. *** Studio Equipment *** I can provide a labtop and speakers. I expect student to provide music that they are wanting to learn or that I have picked out for them base on their preferences. *** Travel Equipment *** I can provide a labtop and speakers. I expect student to provide music that they are wanting to learn or that I have picked out for them base on their preferences. *** Specialties *** I specialize in Pop ad Theater. Also Public Speaking. Some of the methods that I teach is proper support. Sometimes, teens forget this, so I generally teach them how to exercise ones vocal cords safely and effectively by building the fundamentals for them. EX: Laying on floor and putting a stack of books on their stomach so they can see where to pull support from. Also, proper breath control.
