About Andrew Q.
I am a professional percussionist that has delved deeply into many different percussion disciplines. While I study at CU for a Masters degree in classical timpani and percussion I am also well versed in drumset, drumline, hand drums, and keyboard percussion.
ON THE FIRST DAY: Students can expect a conversation about what world of percussion they hope to learn about. This can vary between 1 or as many as they wish! We will then decide the level of dedication and practice. This can also vary depending on each student. As a teacher, I believe it is essential for us to reply to what the student wishes to gain from taking lessons. Over time this may change and be more apparent through practice.
THROUGHOUT LESSONS: Students can expect to be challenged, encouraged, and to HAVE FUN. Musicians are able to express and be passionate performers only as long as they enjoy their time on stage, in the practice room, and in rehearsal.
AFTER LESSONS: Students can expect to gain knowledge in many aspects of percussion, timing, rhythm, and musical integrity. Students will learn the calisthenics of playing drums, the knowledge of how to play, and the emotion that comes along with each type of music.
