Hi, my name is Andy, and I am a Music/Composition major currently at CSU: Northridge. I previously studied composition and music theory with jazz pianist Joe Gilman for 2 years. I have been teaching piano and theory for over two years now, and I love it!.

I also studied Creative Writing for 2 years, and won the 2008 Newsom Prize for Poetry, and have been published several times in the Poet's Corner of the Sacramento News & Review. In addition, I am a seasoned actor in live and musical theatre. Previous roles include Beadle Bamford in Sondheim's Sweeney Todd, Ezra Chater in Arcadia by Tom Stoppard, and most recently the Blind Hermit in Young Frankenstein.

My teaching style is friendly and sympathetic; my passion is to help students feel free and able to pursue outlets for their creativity. I like to boil it down to the essentials, and I believe you learn best by just DOING. Practice doesn't always make perfect--but it sure helps. :)

I have played the piano in my younger years, and not playing it for a long time made me forget on how to read music sheets. It actually made me forget how awesome and fun it is to play the piano. And after a while, I decided I needed to get back on track. So, I checked out the list of instructors close to my home, and I found Andy. And yes, I made the right decision! HE IS THE BEST!!! I was so happy having him to teach and help me read music sheets and to play the piano again. He is funny and awesome! He makes it fun and easy for me to understand the lesson! He gives you pointers and he knows how to boost my self-esteem! I love the claps! <clap clap clap>. I cannot wait to do a gazillion more lessons with him! If you want to learn and have fun learning the piano, he is the one for you! Cheers to Andy! :)
