About Andrew J.
I am a professional saxophonist, clarinetist, guitarist, bassist, and vocalist. I graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelors of Music in Saxophone Performance. I've been teaching Saxophone for 5 years. I've also been the Director of Music for Youth Ministries at my church for 5 years. I've had the chance to perform with the Waco Symphony as well as singing in Mass at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. I've gotten to be flown out to California for gigs as well.
I play classical, jazz, rock, blues, country, and praise & worship music. I have experience teaching many different styles and instruments, as well as students with special needs.
I have been playing for 18 years. I believe that building solid fundamentals will pay off dividends when you continue to advance in your musical experience. I try to start my students with a classical focus, learning to read music, as it is much easier to start there and build and learn other styles, than to come back and try to learn to read music.
I enjoy working with students on what they're passionate about. I find teaching improvisation is greatly inspiring to me. I also enjoy recording and editing music and audio to share with others.
