Andrew started playing piano at age 8. When he was 16 he picked up a bass guitar and never looked back.
At Gaithersburg High School, Andrew played bass in the Jazz Orchestra, and picked up the tuba for Marching Band. He also played in a few local punk bands.
At American University, Andrew studied bass under Dr. Josh Bayer, developing his improvising, listening, and writing skills which he utilized in the Jazz Orchestra, Contemporary Music Workshop, and countless jam sessions. He also developed his musicianship with classes on music theory, ear training, and sight-singing.
After graduating with a BA in Audio Production and Music in the spring of 2016, Andrew continues to gig with his indie rock band Calm & Crisis.
Instructing students between the ages of 5 and 13, ranging from absolute beginners to early intermediate
Meeting once a week, for 30, 45, or 60 minute lessons
Working one-on-one with students in both home and school environments
Taught merit badge classes such as Geocaching, Wilderness Survival, Camping, Search and Rescue, Mammal Studies, and Reptile and Amphibian Studies to groups of 15 to 30 boys ranging from 11 to 17 years old.
Managed a staff of 3-5 other counselors, and led work crews of up to 20 members.
