Hi there! I am a friendly, upbeat teacher who is excited about helping you or your student reach their goals. Writing, reading and grammar are my specialty, and I can't wait to help you reach your goals. I have a Masters in Education from the University of Pennsylvania, and I graduated with highest honors from Rutgers University with a B.A. in English Literature.
I have extensive experience with both one-on-one and classroom teaching, and I am dedicated to getting results. When I taught an intensive SAT course at a non-profit called Mighty Writers, I saw an average of a 200 point gain in student scores. In the classroom, I have taught a wide and diverse range of students ranging from the incredibly gifted, to the most remedial students. I love teaching students at all levels and can be effective with the most advanced through the students who really feel out at sea.
I can't wait to meet you and help you reach your goals!
I teach high school English, focusing on increasing vocabulary, writing and reading skills of my students. I take note of the passions and interests of my individual students to make learning come alive for each individual. I've helped dozens of students go from idea to final draft on college essays, entrance exams, and other important application materials.+ Read More
I taught classes of 25 students the content, strategies, and test anxiety tricks to boost scores an average of 200 points. My husband and I created a super-hero themed curriculum that made learning even the most dry aspects of the SAT fun and exciting.
I tutored two wonderful, highly creative middle school students with special learning needs in all academic subjects. Both students saw an increase in their grades, and one even received an award for "most improved writer" at his graduation!
I also tutored a 2nd grade boy from Vietnam who was new to English, focusing on vocabulary and reading skills.
I student taught 9th and 11th grade English classes with a focus on short stories, poetry, and writing conventions.
