My name is Andre, I currently reside in Syosset, NY, and I pride myself in being the best teacher to all of my students because I want to have them succeed in all they do!
I'm a goal oriented, passionate, and motivated individual who thoroughly believes learning music should be fun and easy! I help my students to find self-motivation so that they will be able to watch themselves grow as musicians. Students should be able to achieve as much as possible in and out of the classroom. Music is a subject where you're learning comes mostly by experience! All students should will find that their musical growth depends on the work they put into every lesson as well as every one of their practice efforts. Their constant involvement in music will allow them to act then think as musicians, helping them to further understand that in every musical situation we find ourselves in, it is also a complete learning experience. I enjoy helping budding musicians to achieve self-confidence in playing their instrument(s) as well by creating as many musical performance experiences as possible and encouraging them to see live performances. My goal is to instill the passion, drive, and energy that music has brought into my own life into the lives of others. Music speaks to the soul of many musicians and much like any primary language we speak, music is learned, and finally mastered! I want to be a part of my students journey on their road to success in being the best musician they can be! At the end of my high school career, I decided to take my musical studies further to Five Towns College located in Dix Hills, NY, where I studied music education, and my major instrument was tuba! It was my freshmen year at college when I decided to teach myself how to play electric bass guitar. I found myself constantly feeling motivated to learn more about music, how to play more instruments through putting myself in as many musical situations as possible! Going to college and having first hand experiences in all of the musical opportunities the world has to offer has made me the well-rounded individual and skilled musician I am today. However, students can have these same experiences without having to wait until college. It's never too early to get started learning an instrument, and it's most certainly never too late! I want my students to always feel proud of their musical successes and teach them all that I can while constantly reminding them that you can do and achieve ANYTHING you put your mind to. "Success follows doing what YOU WANT to do."
*** Lesson Details ***
I like to have my students in a relaxed learning environment. Music is totally something to have fun with as you learn it. Students should always be prepared with necessary tools that are needed for all lessons (i.e. pencil, instrument, lesson book, any material handed out at previous lessons, etc.).
Students can expect to start learning from the minute they walk into their lesson until the very end.
Students should come into lessons with a positive energy!
*** Studio Equipment ***
Five Towns College: practice rooms w/ pianos seating for parents
*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect my students to provide their own instrument as well as any amplifiers they may need if they are guitarists. Students should always hold onto whatever work is given to them to practice on their own time. Students should also have access to their own tuner and/or metronome, and should also have a pencil on them at all times.
*** Specialties ***
I can teach many different styles of music ranging from classical, baroque, jazz, contemporary jazz, swing, big band, pop, alternative rock, hard rock, electronic music, funk, R&B, Soul, Blues. I also have an array of different learning techniques (for select instruments) to help acquire the playing technique required for different styles of music.

Excellent First Lesson.
Andre gave me some good scales to learn
And two songs to work on.
Andre is very personable, and was able to keep my 8 year old's attention. His method was gentle, and he took the time to explain in detail what he was teaching. He taught her a complete structure in just a few lessons. We really enjoyed the lessons, and would recommend him as a teacher!+ Read More

Very patient, informative and helpful teacher. I enjoyed all of the lessons. I look forward to resuming the lessons in the Fall when time permits with my schedule.
Andre is a great instructor. I made progress over a couple of months. I really appreciate more about teach acoustic guitar and have a better sense of how I can create music in my own way such as in my classroom. I feel children learn through music so I am grateful that I got to learn so much from Andre. I hope to be able to take my guitar and play for my preschoolers someday.
He's passionate about what he does and that is portrayed in his instruction and style.
Andre has been playing with my group for about a year. He is reliable and highly knowledgeable. He is proficient both at his instrument (bass) and with his music theory. He is great to work with and I'm confident that students would learn a lot from him.
Responsible and years ahead
Andre is an advanced and motivated musical entity. I have no doubt that Andre is a legend of our generation. Any aspiring artist who's lucky enough to learn under him will certainly be much better for it.
Get Dre On Bass
Andre Lyles joined forced with ARJUN in the summer of 2012. And it's been such a pleasure working on with him on every level. I always refer to him as "The God Send". Andre's ability to compose and improvise on his instrument in any given moment is far superior than those of the many bass players that I've worked with in the past. And I've worked with some killer bass players. On stage he's fierce, knows how to push and never misses a beat! And then there's just Andre the guy, someone I consider one of my best friends. He's got a whole lot of heart and soul in his playing but also as a human being. I always look forward to our inspirational conversations that help keep us on this path of the musical journey that we're on.
Best Teacher NA
I went to school with Andre and every time I was curious about anything music, he lent me his ear and wisdom. When I took singing lessons, he gave me additional lessons, follow ups, and criticisms to support me. When i wanted to learn piano, he gave me notebook full of several basic and intermediate notes I could use. He even listened to the compositions I made and gave suggestions. He very passionate about music, whether he is listening or playing it. He's always seeking knowledge and willing to share it. He is the perfect example of a teacher because not only can he teach, he willing to explore his profession further to help himself and others.
One of the best teachers/musicians in the Greater New York City Area, hands down. Highly trustworthy, goal-driven, and focused on all his work and each individual he teaches, Andre's abilities are only surpassed by his genuine kindness and concern for his craft. Awesome person, inside and out.
This guy really has something inspiring in his teaching approach. Wish every student to have guru with same qualities
Andre Lyles is a great teacher, I can honestly say I've learned a lot from him and can see how his teachings, outlook, and point of view have effected my playing.

He is the most success minded person i know. I literally learn a ton from him only through his actions.
He is very professional, kind and a very helpful person.
Thank you for being so awesome A!
This young man is a great teacher! He's very thorough, knows the subject matter very well of what he's teaching, and his aura makes everything about music really interesting to learn. I felt very engaged when I studied with him at all times, and most importantly, I'm a much better player than I was when I initially started taking lessons. Great player, great human being!
