Hello! My name is Anastasia, and I love music, especially piano and voice! I've been playing since I was 3, when I first asked my mom to let me take lessons. Music has been a part of my life forever. I have a CT Music Education Certification and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Connecticut College. There, I focused on piano, organ and harpsichord, performing my senior recital on all three instruments. I also performed as pianist in the Jazz Ensemble for all four years, while also music directing small musical theatre cabarets and musical productions through the student run theatre group on campus, Wig and Candle. I also assistant music directed three out of four college musical productions. For the last two years in MA, I music directed musicals as often as I could, as well as playing pit piano in musicals. I have worked with adults, professionals, and kids of all ages. I have also enjoyed performing as a fifer in the Middlesex County Volunteers (out of Bedford, MA), traveling to Edinburgh Scotland August (2018) to perform in the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo with the corps. I also am a composer, and actively play folk music with my husband. I believe that continuing one's own music education is very important, and learning new kinds of music regularly is crucial to every musician's development. My current professional development is graduate school for music education. I have also attended Maine Fiddle Camp in the summer. Since I was 18, I realized that my passion was teaching and working with kids. They are bright, interested and creative. I really enjoy seeing the process of a student's development over time, and love working with people to help them gain strength and confidence. Music is always interesting because there always more to learn; new songs, new pieces, new composers to listen to, new top hits to hear and love... it never gets old! I can teach you how to read notes, to understand rhythms, to sight read (this means that you can sit down and read any music and play it almost perfectly on the first try!), how to accompany other musicians like vocalists or violinists, how to accompany yourself while you sing your favorite tunes, how to play beginner/intermediate jazz, folk, classical, how to play from chord/lyric sheets, or to help you find your style if you're not sure yet. I encourage you to ask me lots of questions! I teach out of my cozy house in Chester, and I really look forward to meeting you and helping you to become the musician you've always hoped to be.

    Music Director

    Sep, 2011 - Aug, 2013

    Madhatters Theatre Company

I directed all music rehearsals. Warmed up the cast. Taught all music. Accompanied rehearsals on piano. Taught cast techniques for projecting properly. Helped cast members with character vocal development. Responsible for overseeing music and warmups during performances.

    Choir Director

    Sep, 2017 - Apr, 2019

Waldorf High School of MA Bay

I ran all rehearsals for chorus. I taught vocal technique for projection and singing with good support and volume, free of strain or fatigue. I chose the repertoire, wrote the program, accompanied all rehearsals, and conducted the concerts during the year.

    Piano teacher

    Sep, 2015 - Mar, 2016

    Thames Valley Music School

    Music Director

    Sep, 2014 - Jun, 2017

    The Williams School

I was responsible for running all musical activities on campus. These included instrumental and choral ensembles, as well as creating all the middle school enrichment curriculums for sixth, seventh and eighth graders. I developed three curriculums that introduced the young students to music’s basic theories, note reading and asked them to apply it directly through playing and performing recorder and piano, and finally, composing and performing original pieces. My experiences also include directing, music directing, and choreographing middle school musical productions.
