Learn from experience! Ananda is a diverse guitarist, specializing in many styles. After his immersion in the Jazz Studies department at the University of Oregon, he has played, gigged, and recorded extensively, working in a variety of different creative situations. This has given him skill and ease with acoustic and electric guitar both (as well as mandolin and bass). Styles he is competent in include Rock, Blues, Jazz, Folk, Pop, Fingerstyle, Reggae, and RnB. He also is an active songwriter and improviser, and loves instructing in these skills as well. For 4 years, he worked as music electives teacher at Nevada City School of the Arts, running the guitar and bass curriculum, helping with jazz band, and coaching an after school rock band. All of these classes have held end of semester performances. So, wherever you want to go, he can help take you there!! What's best, he is a present teacher that really responds to each student's needs specifically, and he actively tailors the lessons to their goals and learning styles. Ananda is currently teaching online private lessons from his home in Nevada City, CA, recording as a session player, and working on his newest albums with both his solo project, and band BrightSide Blue.

    Teacher's studio
Ananda has such a gift for teaching and performing music with kids and adults of all ages. He weaves together music theory, ear training, improvisation, and the love of music seamlessly, and he does it with patience, attention, and clarity. Ananda is fluent many string instruments, including acoustic and electric guitar, bass, and mandolin, and has experience leading student ensembles and creating original arrangements. I highly recommend Ananda for all kiddos and adults who want to deepen their musical abilities.

My first experience with Ananda was seeing his students at my kids K-8 Arts school and thinking 'where did all of these skillful young guitarists come from, who is their teacher'. In a short amount of time I observed half a dozen young people looking like they were really enjoying playing the beautiful guitar music they were playing. I've since had the pleasure of observing him as an educator of middle school students on a variety of instruments and also of guiding my growth as a guitarist. Aspiring musicians are going to receive thoughtful encouragement and confident guidance in achieving realistic musical goals while seasoned players are going to be supported in deeper levels of theory and musicianship. Listen to any track Ananda plays on and pay attention to how lucidly he communicates through his instrument and expect the same level of thoughtful communication from him as your educator.

So grateful to have a more clear, coherent, harmonious understanding of music, accompanied with practices that keep me inspired and enjoying the process of learning. After a few lessons with Ananda my skills on guitar have increased more than I was able to advance on my own in one years time. Having a teacher who can answer all the curiosities that come along with learning a new instrument is immensely helpful and Ananda has a great way of communicating so that the knowledge of music really rings true throughout the practices. For the first time I truly am hopeful and gratified in musicality, thanks to these mindful virtual lessons!
