My name is Anabel and I’m pleased to be here. I love the idea of teaching others my Native language in this setting. I grew up in a Spanish speaking home with parents that knew not a single word in English. I learned English when I started school and loved coming home to teach my parents what I learned. I grew up being depended on for translating for my parents and knowing the importance of being bilingual. It has been a great advantage because I have been useful from a very young age and it carried on as I grew. I have been useful in jobs to hand the Spanish lines and translate for the Hispanic community. I graduated High school and College as a Medical Assistant 5 years ago and have been handy for translating to the Providers as the only Spanish speaking staff. Therefore, I am also familiar and experienced in translating medical terms. I also have experience working with children with disabilities as I was a Habilitation Therapist for children with Autism with Spanish speaking families. I have worked with people of all ages in different settings and I am confident with my ability to teach my Native language.
