I am a professional musician and educator fluent in classical, jazz, Latin jazz, R&B, and pop styles. Currently residing in the Bloomington IN area, I have performed with a variety of groups across the Midwest including Michael Spiro's Descarga 5, the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, and the Buselli Wallarab Jazz Ensemble. As a recording artist, I have appeared on recordings with Bootsy Collins for his remix of the "Indiana Fight Song," Indiana University Jazz Ensemble performing "Gennett Suite" for WTIU TV, Liberation Music Collective's Rebel Portraiture, and releases for Oberlin Orchestra and IU New Music Ensemble. Recently in January 2020, I was awarded the Earl Hines Outstanding Soloist Award by Wynton Marsalis at the Jack Rudin Jazz Championship in New York City for my performance of Duke Ellington's "Tattooed Bride." Currently, I am pursuing a Doctorate in Clarinet Performance at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and hold an M.M. from IU Jacobs School of Music in Clarinet Performance and Jazz Saxophone, and B.M. from Oberlin Conservatory in Clarinet Performance and Jazz Saxophone. My online teaching uses a top notch studio set up to make sure your online lessons are hassle-free! Each lesson is catered to YOU and your specific goals, whether you're a beginner or a student serious about a career in music. Questions? I have played clarinet for 5 years now and am working on music for solo pieces and band class. Ana gives me lots of material to work on and I am feeling more confident about my playing!

I really enjoy taking saxophone lessons with Ana. She is extremely knowledgeable in topics related to saxophone, jazz, and improvisation. Her lessons are very organized, intellectually stimulating, and she provides just the right amount of structure while allowing me the space to develop my own creative ideas. I highly recommend taking a lesson with her. You’ll thank me later!

I'm a classically-trained flutist and have been taking Jazz improv and theory lessons with Ana for four months. I have learned so much from her - she has opened my eyes to jazz and made it fun and approachable. The lessons have given me a deeper appreciation when listening to jazz, improved my listening skills, and made me a better player. I never thought I would be able to do improv, and after a few weeks of lessons it came very easily to me. I highly recommend Ana to anyone who wants to learn jazz improv, regardless of what instrument they play!
