I have an MFA in Acting from NYU and a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Music from the U of Iowa. I have been a professional actor (AEA, SAG-AFTRA) since 1987 and have been teaching since 1991. I have worked in theater, film and television (series and commercials). I'm a Theater professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University (2013-present) and have also been on the theater faculty at NYU Grad Acting and Brooklyn College MFA Acting to name a few. I find it so rewarding to act and teach. They compliment each other so wonderfully. I get fresh ideas about teaching when I'm working as an actor and vice versa when I'm teaching. If you are auditioning/applying for a BFA or MFA program I can get you ready as I've helped many students with this and have been through it as an actor. I also teach singing performance for actors learning to sing and for singers learning to act! Actors and singers are story tellers! I will provide acting tools and vocal techniques that actors/singers will carry in their back pockets throughout their careers,

I worked with Amy when I was getting ready for the URTA auditions. She helped me with choosing monologues and my song. She coached me on all the pieces and pushed me to a higher level. I'm not really a singer but she got me to tell the story of the song and I pulled it off! By the time I auditioned I felt so confident. I was accepted by many programs and chose to attend the University of Iowa. I'm out of school now and often work with Amy when I have to prepare for the next audition. Work with her! She'll get the best out of you.
I think Amy is my FAVORITE teacher for any and all acting work. I've been a student of hers during each chapter of my 20+ year career. In group classes and private one-on-one coaching we have prepared for auditions, honed improvisation skills, rehearsed songs, scenes, and monologues together, and investigated just about every obstacle I've had as an actor. In my experience, she approaches all actor challenges-- from classical texts to commercial copy-- with a sense of investigation, rigor, and humor. Often one session (even over zoom if I'm out of town!!) will give me the confidence and delight I need to take with me back into my work, whatever it may be that week. She is a generous teacher, approachable, trustworthy, and very very wise.
Amy helped me prepare my auditions for BFA programs. She is an incredible instructor, extremely insightful, intuitive and hilarious! She’s so much fun to work with and I learned so much from her. Thanks to her I was admitted to Boston University’s College of Fine Arts for acting.
