I'm a knitter from way back, and I love sharing my hobby. I've taught many friends and friends-of how to knit, and have a variety of methods to help you out. I learned how to crochet as a little kid at my grandmother's knee, and my best friend taught me how to knit. I've since added spinning on a drop spindle or wheel, and making my own batts on my homemade blending board. (Thanks, Dad!)
I can teach English or Continental (aka "tossing or throwing" or "yarn in right hand vs yarn in left hand"), and will show you how to cast on and knit your first project! (Hint: it won't be a scarf)
I will also show how to select the right yarn for your pattern, and walk you through Ravelry (the main website for the fiber world). You'll leave with your own project already started and ready for you to continue on your own, my number for additional help, a list of online yarn stores, and recommended books and online resources. I'd love to take a field trip to a local yarn store, but we don't have one here. Woe. It is a sadness.
Advanced lessons, if desired, would include knitting in the round in various methods, sock knitting including the magic of turning the heel, and how to block your project for the best results. Or anything you want! Knitting is great fun, and opens the door to playing with even more fiber. Who knows, you may decide you want to spin your own yarn!
