    About Amy G.

I am a composer, arranger, singer-songwriter, and vocalist in Los Angeles, CA. I am the composer-in-residence for Nova Vocal Ensemble and have been commissioned to write and arrange several pieces for Nova, including arrangements of “Coventry Carol“, “The Skye Boat Song“, and “What Child is This”. My music has been described as melodic and accessible, yet with surprising harmonic twists. I am influenced by the musical styles of Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, and Steve Reich. I love setting poetry to music and bringing out the meaning of the text through music. In addition to composing classical and choral music, I am also an active media composer and singer-songwriter. I compose for films and web broadcasts. My song “One Door Opens” was named a finalist in the International SongDoor Songwriting competition. I am an active educator and teach Bachelor-level Music Theory, Songwriting, and Music Education classes. I am available for private piano, voice, composition, and songwriting lessons in the South Bay area. I received my M.M. in Composition from California State University, Long Beach and my B.A. in Composition from Loyola Marymount University.
