Indian Dance with Amy A.

My inspiration for dance is an Indian actor named Govinda. As a kid, I hated dancing but watching Govinda's dances with all the fun dance expressions (if you're a 90's Bollywood fan, you know what I'm talking about) and all the other energetic and colorful dances, I couldn't resist dancing. After being suicidal as a teenager, I realized dance was the only thing that made me happy and want to live more. Going through that struggle of 'want to be happy' shaped my decision even more that I wanted to make dance a career. I did not just want to dance and entertain but also help people with depression, anxiety, self esteem issues, etc. I want to help better people's mental and emotional being through dance. Being from a reserved, conservative indian family, I was forced to study biology and math. Eventually, I was able to compromise with my parents to study psychology (a medical field and my interest). But I still felt I needed to do something in dance. Without any support or money, I couldn't do much. Then I got married, met my wonderful and supportive husband who encouraged me to get my Bollywood fitness certification. That's when I got my BollyX LIT certification. Now, I look forward to doing what I love and live for. I hope I can make a positive impact on someone else through dance and make a person smile.
