Hello, and welcome to my teacher profile! I'm Mandy, and I am an acoustic guitarist with over ten years of experience in my craft. I specialize in classical/ fingerstyle technique, and have been teaching this style to my guitar students for four years. Students will start with the basics, such as getting to know their instrument, learning the notes on the fretboard, chords, simple strumming technique and basic fingerstyle patterns. I then progress my students to a more in depth study of fingerstyle or fingerpicking technique, that will allow them to gain a full range of skills as an acoustic guitar player. During our lessons, the student will receive acoustic guitar instruction and guidance passed down to me by guitar masters before me. By teaching proper technique and posture, repertoire, fretboard recognition, site reading and theory, I provide all of my students with the training necessary to become proficient guitar players and well rounded musicians. I personalize my lessons to each student’s needs and I patiently work with them at a pace that feels comfortable, while still motivating them to challenge themselves. With a little patience and hard work, you can expect to see real progress under my instruction. I am excited to guide you through your musical journey, and I really look forward to helping you achieve your goals! An interesting fact about me is that I am also a singer songwriter, and I originally picked up the guitar just to accompany myself with a few simple chords. Guitar playing ended up turning into a full-blown career for me, and is just as close to my heart now as singing and songwriting. I also teach ukulele, and have been able to apply most of my guitar playing techniques to the ukulele.

I have taken two classical guitar lessons with Mandy, she is a great guitar teacher. She is patient to explain skills in detail and demonstrate performance clearly. The lesson time is fully utilized and the end time is reached unconsciously, I was totally immersed in the classical guitar world. Even though I'm still learning and enhancing the basic techniques, I can see my great progress. I strongly recommend Mandy!

    Experience

    Guitar Instructor

    Jan, 2019 - Present

    Guitar Center

I have been working as a private guitar instructor at Guitar Center for about three years. During my time with this company I have learned how to create a positive, achievement-oriented and structured learning environment that excites and invests students. I have also learned that each student is different and all students learn differently. Working with students from ages seven to eleven has taught me how to diversify my teaching methods enough to be able to meet the needs and interests of each student, while still maintaining a disciplined, but fun curriculum.

    Musician

    Jan, 2012 - Present

    Self Employed

I have been performing and recording music professionally since the age of eighteen, right out of high school. I play regularly at various venues all across south Florida, including Bar Nancy, Tea and Poets, Gramps Miami, Luna Star Cafe, Spanish Marie and more. I have released two albums, the first self titled "Mandy Marylane" and the second titled "Blues Shack." Both of these albums have received airplay on folk and acoustic radio stations all around the country and are available for streaming on all major platforms.
