Oboe with Amelia V.

Hello! My name is Amelia Van Howe and I look forward to playing oboe with you. My teaching style focuses on creating solid fundamental habits of playing the oboe including breathing, tone production, and technique as well as working with the student's own musicality to create a truly individual sound. I am a graduate student at Duquesne University earning my Master of Music in oboe performance. In 2015 I graduated from Michigan State University with my Bachelor of Music in oboe performance. I currently perform with the Aeolian Winds of Pittsburgh, the Pittsburgh Philharmonic Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Savoyards, the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra, and the Edgewood Symphony Orchestra. My principal teachers are Scott Bell and Jan Eberle. In addition to my performance, I am also a professional oboe reed maker. I work for MKL Reeds and I own and am the sole reed maker for Sunshine Reeds.
