Amelia was great. She provided excellent instruction, adapted to my style of learning and gave me a targeted plan to help me improve my acting skills throughout the course of my lessons. As a beginner, I couldn't have asked for a better teacher for my introduction to the world of acting.Show More
Very lovely person, great teacher, good start. Onward! See you in Hollywood! :)
Great, supportive teacher. The sessions are useful and motivating to become better in acting.
She's a wonderful teacher!
Amelia is very dedicated to her students. In just a few lessons she was able to really make a difference.
Very happy with her preparation, clear knowledge of the industry, honest advise, and enthusiastic, positive approach to teaching. My 'tween' daughter was thrilled with her lesson and looking forward to more time with Amelia.
I have been taking one-on-one lessons with Amelia for a little over a year. Anyone looking for acting lessons with a personal touch would be lucky to have Amelia as their teacher. She is very attentive and personable, but isn't afraid to give you polite criticism where she feels you can improve. She's open and honest and always looking to help her students do their best. Highly recommended!Show More
Amelia is terrific, easy to work with, patient and encouraging. She has really improved my VO work, by helping me to articulate clearer and bring physicality to my readings. I originally signed up for 5 classes, just to see how adding acting to VO acting could improve my performances. And after the first 4 classes, I was so impressed that I signed up for more. I couldn't be happier about my experience studying with Amelia! She really meets you at whatever your level is, and instructs with her superior knowledge and sincere encouragement.
Enthusiastic and very nice
Amelia is brilliant, caring, and the real deal. I've never known anyone as adept at the classics, and in understanding how to make texts come alive.
Amelia was one of my first acting coaches and by far the best I have ever and will ever work with. Amelia encourages her students to look beyond the pages of the script and find the meaning in the words. She taught me to explore the characters I played and challenged me each time, helping me improve with each character. Amelia helped me realize my love for acting and allowed me to explore what it takes to truly connect with a character. While Amelia clearly loves the craft of acting, more importantly she loves to see her students improve and grow. Even though five years have passed since Amelia has been my teacher, I still reference the tools she taught me with each of my roles.Show More
Amelia Nickels is and forever will be one of the best acting coaches I've ever had the pleasure of studying under. I've come across many of coaches who typically only push their favorite style or method of acting and that be it and if it doesn't agree with you the result will always be tragic. Ms. Nickels worked with me hand in hand to push out some of my best and most emotional pieces ever. Her years of experience have taught her all the tricks of the trade to push you and the product; whether it be introducing a silent character into your monologue to get a more physical and visceral reaction out of you or having you run continuously back and forth in a room to help control your breathing and pace, she has it all. She cares about her craft and more so she cares about her students who just may get so lucky as to call her friend. Not to mention I once auditioned for an NBC casting representative, John Ort (yeah that guy), who saw Amelia Nickels' name on my resume and had the most glowing things to say about her. I'm not saying her connections will land you on John Ort's Modern Family (which I hear he won awards for that casting) but what I am saying is that even after half a decade from training with her her tutelage still carries with me on every script I memorize, commercial copy I tackle, or sides I inflect (I'm not sure that's a word). She's the Vince Lombardi of acting coaches, the Julia Childs of teaching techniques, she's the single best acting decision I've ever made.Show More
Amelia is a wonderful teacher! She works well with all ages, and she is very encouraging. As an actor, it is so important to take risks, and Amelia creates an atmosphere where, as a student, you feel comfortable to do so.
Amelia was one of my first acting teachers and without hesitation I can say that she is the absolute best! She always made sure I got the tools I needed to improve my acting by giving me the individual attention I needed. She will go above and beyond to make sure you are challenged in all the right ways. Amelia is passionate, encouraging, and knowledgeable. If you are looking for a teacher with these qualities then you have found her right here!Show More
Amelia is one of the best acting coaches that I've had the privilege to work with. She is patient, caring, and understands that every student learns differently. Amelia will work with you to help you bring the most to any performance piece you work on. She will teach you to analyze the script to understand why your character does what he does or says what he says. She will teach you how to connect to the material to bring your performance to life. Amelia helped me grow as an actor and inspired me to begin writing my own material for others to enjoy. If you have a passion for the performing arts and want to make yourself better for it, then look no further than Amelia.Show More
There is one word to describe Amelia and her work as a teacher and that is; fantastic. I am now a film director and work with a lot of actors. I've been lucky to have great experiences with actors because of what Amelia has taught me about acting, and understanding how actors prepare a project. What a wonderful way to start out learning the craft of filmmaking and acting other than with a teacher who will be go the extra mile to help and fight for her students.Show More
Amelia was one of my first acting teachers as a youngster and I couldn't have asked for a better teacher to help guide me when I was starting out my professional career. I wanted to be exposed to everything acting-related and Amelia did just that. From Shakespeare to Christopher Durang and acting on stage to acting on camera, Amelia knows exactly how to make you spark and feel confident when handed any type of script or material. She challenges you in a way that reveals your most honest and daring work. I am so thankful for her and I think that any actor would be very lucky to have her as their teacher!Show More
