Hi! My name is Amanda and I have been teaching private lessons since 2002. I teach both French Horn and Piano lessons in my home studio or at your home. I believe that everybody learns differently so there is no "cookie cutter" lesson plan with me. Your lessons will be tailored to your musical interests and style of learning. Young beginning piano students can expect to learn theory through games and coloring projects for example. I strive for a dynamic studio so that all involved have fun learning.
I am also a registered Wunderkeys instructor. Wunderkeys is a piano method specifically designed for preschoolers aged 3-5 years old. Using pictures, rhymes, singing, games, and more, lessons are so much fun that students don't even realize they're learning! Children don't need to have any musical background or knowledge to learn with the Wunderkeys method.
I hold a Bachelors degree in French Horn performance from the University of MN-Duluth with piano being my secondary instrument. I also hold a Master's Degree from Wichita State University. I held the position of Assistant French Horn in the Wichita Symphony and have freelanced and subbed with numerous orchestras and groups in the midwest including the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra.
I currently have a home studio where I teach Piano and French Horn.
I have been a freelance Horn player since about 2002 throughout the Midwest. I have performed with opera companies, Broadway productions, and symphonies in Kansas, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
I taught French Horn to middle school and high school age students who were awarded lessons through the Bloomfield Scholarship Program in Wichita, KS.
I taught beginning piano as well as trumpet and trombone to at risk youth.

Very patient. Works well with my quiet, shy child. He leaves with a smile on his face, excited and confident about what he's learning. I am soo surprised how fast he is learning something soo new to him. Very good teacher!!!
