Hello! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. First off, I'd like to talk about my travel radius. If you you would like to know if your location is within my travel radius, I only need your zipcode to estimate your location. So please don't hesitate to ask! Now for formalities. My name is Amanda S. and I have been playing the cello for 14 years and the violin for 3 years. I have been teaching private cello lessons for 4 years, and music classes with my violin for almost one year now. I love students who ask questions and are engaged and eager to learn. You can ask me anything about music during our lessons and if I don't have an answer for you in that moment, I will find an answer for you before our next lesson should you chose to continue them. In my studio, my students and I work very hard every lesson. Effort is strongly encouraged and rewarded. Every student's age and abilities are taken into account and with my experience, I know how hard to push and when to relax. So don't worry, it's not cello/violin boot camp! If you have any further questions about what you can expect, please ask!

Ms. Shafer is a wonderful instructor. She understands how to work with children. Allowing them to be silly and giggly for a bit and then gentle redirecting them to focus on the music and instruction. She also meets them at their level and is very engaging. My child enjoys learning from her.

Hello. I am a thirteen year old girl who attends middle school. I have been taking cello lessons from Ms. Shafer for five and one-half months. Her instruction has helped me to gain helpful study habits that help me practice to become a better cellist. With her way of teaching, songs that I have previously thought impossible to play become possible.

Amanda is a fantastic cello instructor. Despite her hectic schedule, she's very involved and obviously caring of her students. Shes very helpful and understanding of each of her students' situation. Interesting enough, we've had 2 of the same private lessond instructors and yet she still provides me with new techniques and helpful suggestions. 10/10 would reccomend.

    Experience

    Music Teaching Assistant

    Sep, 2017 - Present

    String Project

After a two year break due to schedule conflicts, I returned to the String Project more prepared to teach after completing more music education courses. Now, my responsibilites include preparing young violinists and cellists for concerts using the Suzuki Methods books, excerpts chosen by the master teachers I teach under, as well as technical things such as scales. I also part-arrange when it is necessary. After completing almost four years of college, I feel I am more prepared to teach these children than in my first year, thanks to the curriculum and the faculty that I have worked with.

    Daycare Provider

    Sep, 2016 - Jan, 2018

    KidsPark

I was responsible for caring for children which required first aid, changning diapers, preapring meals, creating activities, and monitoring large motor activites such as jump rope or playing on the playground.

    Music Teaching Assistant

    Sep, 2014 - May, 2015

    CSUS String Projecy

I worked with the String Project my freshman year of college. My responsibilities were preparing students for a concert where they would perform for their friends and family songs and tunes from the first book of Suzuki Methods. In the classroom setting, the teaching assistants were only teaching violin and cello.
