I've been teaching violin, viola, and fiddle for 13 years, and I love sharing all kinds of music with my students. To do that, I've developed my own teaching method that includes learning by ear and learning from sheet music, with music tailored to each student's age, level, and musical tastes. The music I teach ranges from Irish fiddle music to children's songs from around the world to all levels of classical music, including music I've written myself. I've been playing violin for 29 years, and I trained as a classical violinist. I earned my Artist Diploma in Chamber Music Studies from the University of Illinois, my Master of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Colorado and my Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Baldwin-Wallace College. My favorite classical music to play is string quartets, but I've also played in a lot of orchestras for concerts and musicals. About 9 years ago, I started playing Irish fiddle and Argentine tango, and I discovered my love for all different kinds of music. I play in the contra dance band Meadowhawk; we play traditional fiddle music from around the world, including Irish and American old-time, but add our own flavor to it, including writing a lot of our own tunes. I also play Argentine tango for concerts and dances across North America, including performances with Julián Peralta, Pablo Aslan, Cuarteto Tanguero, and Da Capo Tango Orchestra.
