Hello! I am a freelance flutist and teacher. I received my bachelor's degree in music education and flute performance from The University of Michigan and my master's degree in flute performance from Rice University. I have extensive experience teaching students ranging from age five to adult, beginning through advanced. I currently maintain a large private studio in my home, as well as coach high school flute sectionals at Strake Jesuit Preparatory. In the summers I am on faculty at the Sitka Fine Arts Camp. Past flute faculty positions include positions with The Vivaldi Music Academy, The British International School, The Village School, Belvoir Terrace Fine Arts Camp, and Cook Middle School. An experienced adjudicator, my students have scored consistently well in solo and ensemble and region band auditions. In addition to my private teaching, I have taught elementary basic musicianship classes and elementary general classroom music. I tailor my lessons to my students' specific needs and enjoy finding new ways to develop each child's potential. In addition to implementing exercises to develop technique and choosing repertoire appropriate for musical progress, I value the use of creative approaches to assist in musician growth, including singing, composing, dictation (writing melody and rhythm by ear), and body movement. I look forward to working with you!
