- Teaches students:
- Ages 3+ and special needs
- Teaching since:
As soon as I graduated from Keuka College I moved to Aspen, Colorado to work for the only all year-round Deaf camp in the country. There, I worked with an all Deaf Staff who helped me build who I am today as an interpreter and encouraged me to start tutoring. Since coming back, I have worked with a Deaf school loving my day to day schedule.
Last year I was with a special needs class who had students with different levels of Deafness and educational needs. I especially loved that class due to getting to know each student individually and in a group setting. They all have their different ways of learning, processing and attending to work. However, once you figure out each of their special ways, you can really give them the help they need to succeed.
Every child and adult has different ways of processing and learning information given to them. It's my job as a teacher and tutor to figure that out and do whatever I can to help them succeed.
I don't have one way of tutoring. I adjust my lessons based off of each student and how they take retain information. American Sign Language is a very visual language and can be easier to learn for some. For others, maybe not as easy. However, no matter how difficult or easy it may be for you, I will always make it fun, educational, and a worth while learning experience for you!
