I am a complete songwriting nerd and along with the countless books I have read on the subject, I also have a songwriting deal with a very successful publisher. As a songwriting teacher, I try to nurture the creative, impulsive and often times otherworldly feeling us writers get when we write songs while enriching the process with lessons in craft that can help you convey your message much clearer and much more powerfully. I follow a curriculum that I have been developing, which is compiled from countless books, notes from songwriting panels and experts and from my experience writing songs professionally with my publisher.
Alvin is a signed songwriter with a well established, 30 year old independent publisher. He frequently writes to finished tracks that need topline (lyrics and melody) and also creates songs from his own tracks or piano accompaniment.
Alvin seeks to inspire his student's love for music through songwriting. He teaches a curriculum where children learn various instruments, how to sing and how to use music software with the end goal of creating their own songs.
Alvin founded a Studio in Miami, Florida September 2012. the Studio has changed locations a few times in it's life, but has found it's home on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Alvin produces and writes songs out of this studio and is constantly working with New York City's top vocalists and musicians (Sony, Motown the Musical). Recently. Alvin's pursuit of inspiring and meaningful music has given him a reputation for motivating both new and professional songwriters to reach their maximum potential.
Alvin held an after school songwriting class for middle school children interested in developing a skill for songwriting. Alvin taught them various instruments, arrangement in songwriting, melody and lyric, and they recorded a song as a culminating project.
