Violin with Alvin D.

I am a collegiate violist, violinist, pianist, composer, recording technician and sound designer. I expect to gradate from Macalester college with a Bachelor of Arts, specifically in music (viola). Viola/violin students can expect to improve week to week in their playing technique. Every musician has strengths and weaknesses; I teach students to both express themselves and expand their horizons through implementation of foundational techniques. I can help any student to play with poise, confidence, and expression. I teach students that are age 7 or older and of any experience level. I have studied classical viola for 9 years, classical/fiddle violin for 8 years, and sound design/composition for 2. I teach students to read music and pursue classical excellence, to play contemporary modern music using their ear, or both depending on the goals and preference of the student. My personal passion is romantic and minimalist music, but I firmly believe that great technique is essential to every style. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better musician!
