About Allison S.
Hello,
I am passionate about singing! I received my Bachelors in Music for Opera at UIUC and my Master's in Music at NYU for Musical Theater. Aside from studying music and voice, I have performed all over the country in Broadway National Tours (the Color Purple & Motown the Musical-Diana Ross) and have performed on Broadway stages (Book of Mormon & Motown the Musical), and in concert with Erykah Badu and Stevie Wonder. I am fluent in multiple genres of music: Musical Theater, Jazz/Scatting, Soul, R&B, Classical, Pop.
I believe that each student has a unique voice, a unique instrument. In our lessons, we will discover and explore your voice, locate the challenges and strengthen them. Not only will I teach you technique and warm ups that you can use on your own, but we will work on STORY TELLING and ACTING through song. Its one thing to sing well, its another skill to express authentically through your voice. I cater my lessons to each of my students and approach singing holistically.
