Music Theory with Allison L.

I am a local high school band/orchestra director, composer/arranger, and performer. As a teacher, I have taught elementary general music and currently teach at the high school level. I have taught privately since my sophomore year in undergrad. I enjoy working with musicians of all skill levels and ages. My philosophy of teaching is to instill a genuine love of music and learning into my students in order to inspire self-motivation and discipline. As someone who has suffered and recovered from physical injury due to playing in the past, I also highlight good technique in my students. As a performer, I regularly perform as a classical clarinetist, a woodwind doubler in jazz and musical theater contexts, and in more improvisatory/experimental settings as well. I frequently perform my own compositions in both group and solo settings. I compose and arrange classical, liturgical music, musical theater, pop music, and everything in-between.
