Florida native Allison Duncan is an active flutist, teacher, and clinician currently residing in Northeast Atlanta. She received a Master of Music in Performance from the Conservatory of Music and Dance at the University of Missouri – Kansas City and a Bachelor of Music in Performance from Florida State University. At age 17, Allison made her debut as a Young Artist Soloist with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.
Upon completion of her Master’s degree in 2016, Allison and her also musician husband moved to Atlanta to seek the opportunity to grow as active teachers and freelance musicians. In addition to a growing private studio, Allison serves as a regular sectional coach and gives masterclasses to numerous middle and high school flute sections throughout the Atlanta area.
Allison’s primary teachers include Eva Amsler, Deborah Heller, and Dr. Mary Posses. She thanks them greatly for their mentorship.
She has performed in Masterclasses with Jeanne Baxtresser, William Bennett, Leone Buyse, Jill Felber, Angelieta Floyd, and Richard Graef, pianist Linda Mark, and harpsichordist Shalev Ad-El. Allison has also performed with various flute ensembles at the National Flute Association Convention and Florida Flute Association Conventions. She is a two-time finalist for the Florida Flute Association College Young Artist Competition.
In addition to teaching and making music, Allison is a lover of nature, coffee, crafting, and taking care of her fur baby Lyla.
